Chief Executive Officer; BECL briefed on challenges of energy sector in Balochistan
Secretary to Government of Balochistan for Energy Department; Mr. Shehryar Taj and newly appointed expert for Energy Naeem Malik were also there in the meeting. Chief Minister Mr. Jam Kamal Khan welcomed the newly appointed officials and briefed them on the priorities of provincial government for Energy sector. He also briefed them on his vision and challenges of energy sector in Balochistan.
According to the official press note released from chief minister secretariat matters related to the Oil and Gas sector, renewable energy, power and electricity supply were discussed. Sui Mines Leasing extension, investment for the economic and financial progress of Province Balochistan, Margand Gas reservoirs discovery at Kalat and power distribution matters were also discussed. Talking with the delegation Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan assured that Balochistan Energy Company will utilize all its energies to attain all the benefits of the province. Former Managing Director Pakistan Petroleum Limited Syed Firasat Shah has joined Balochistan Energy Company Limited BECL. According to the official sources Syed Firasat Shah will be the first Chief Executive Officer of BECL. Syed Firasat Shah was selected as CEO of Balochistan Energy Company Limited through open competition. Earlier from 2012, charge of Chief Executive Officer of BECL was under the jurisdiction and authority of the Secretary Energy.
Syed Firasat Shah is experienced well rounded as oil and gas professional with a demonstrated success history in the E&P sector. Skilled in Business Development, Asset Management, HC Exploration, Geophysics, seismic data processing, Geology. A Master of Science – MS focused in Earth Sciences from Old Dominion University, Virginia and one focused in Geophysics from Quaid e Azam University, Islamabad.
